On December 19, as part of his official visit to Tokyo, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Japanese Minister of Economy, Industry, and Trade Ryosei Akazawa, the press service of the head of our state reports.
The two leaders discussed current issues related to further strengthening the Uzbek-Japanese strategic partnership, expanding trade and investment cooperation, and promoting joint projects.
The head of state noted with satisfaction the dynamic growth of Japanese direct investment in the Uzbek economy. In recent years, the number of joint ventures has increased tenfold, and the total portfolio of ongoing projects has exceeded $20 billion.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening trade and investment ties, as well as deepening industrial cooperation in areas such as alternative energy, decarbonization, critical raw materials, and many others.
The importance of establishing an intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation at the ministerial level to advance joint programs and projects was emphasized.
An agreement was reached to develop a program of activities to further strengthen business ties with the active participation of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Association for Trade with the CIS Countries (ROTOBO).
