Talks between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb, with the participation of official delegations, were held at the ‘‘Kuksaroy’’ residence, the press service of the head of our state reports.
Prospects for further strengthening Uzbek-Finnish multifaceted cooperation were discussed in detail, primarily in the political, trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian spheres.
The dynamic development of political dialogue and exchanges at various levels, as well as the intensification of business contacts, were noted with satisfaction.
Mutual trade volumes are steadily increasing, and economic and business ties are strengthening. ‘‘Nordic’’ University is successfully operating in Uzbekistan in cooperation with Finland, and programs in school education are being implemented.
Following the Uzbek-Finnish business forum, a portfolio of promising joint projects worth over 1 billion euros was formed.
During the talks, opportunities for significantly increasing trade turnover were discussed, including through the creation of a joint Trade Finance Fund to stimulate mutual supplies.
Initiatives to open certification laboratories to promote Uzbek agricultural and textile products on European Union markets were supported.
Priority was given to expanding cooperation in key sectors such as geology and critical materials, energy, agriculture, digitalization, artificial intelligence, ecology, tourism, and other areas.
Agreements were reached to hold the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in 2026 and establish a Business Council. Mutual interest in expanding interregional cooperation was expressed.
Cooperation in education, medicine, and labor migration was also discussed. The first Rectors and Innovation Forum is planned for next year.
The presidents exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues.
