The fourth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council was held under the chairmanship of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the press service of the head of our state reports.
The parties emphasized the symbolism of the current meeting, which is being held on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan and the 30th anniversary of the Treaty of Eternal Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries.
The dynamic development of political dialogue and the similarity of positions on international issues were noted with satisfaction.
An agreement was reached to continue mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Turkic States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and other organizations.
Interparliamentary ties, including through friendship groups, have intensified.
Mutual trade volumes, as well as the number of joint ventures and projects with leading Turkish companies, are steadily growing.
The goal has been set to increase trade turnover to $5 billion in the coming years, including by expanding the list of goods covered by the Preferential Trade Agreement.
In preparation for the visit, new priority areas of industrial cooperation were identified, which will be implemented under a separate program.
The enormous potential for interregional cooperation was also noted. By the end of the year, delegations from all regions of Uzbekistan will visit Turkey to develop a project portfolio with partner regions.
The need for implementing advanced Turkish practices in agriculture, horticulture, healthcare, and medical tourism was emphasized.
Particular attention was paid to developing cooperation in tourism, holding theater festivals and cultural weeks, joint production of historical films, and the restoration of cultural heritage sites.
To deepen cooperation in education, it was agreed to hold the fourth Rectors’ Forum in Bukhara this spring.
Reports were also heard from the co-chairs of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Promising Areas of Multifaceted Partnership.
Following the meeting, the governments were instructed to approve a roadmap for implementing the decisions made.
Finally, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to visit Uzbekistan.
