President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the progress of major transport infrastructure modernization projects, the press service of the head of our state reports.
A project for the construction of a new, modern highway between Tashkent and Samarkand was reviewed. According to the plan, the total length of this road will be 282 kilometers. Soil stabilization work will be carried out on 140 kilometers of individual sections. The project includes the construction of 12 interchanges, 91 bridges, and 16 overpasses.
The road, scheduled for completion within five years, will be a Category Ia highway, meaning it meets the highest technical and safety standards for highways. It will have six lanes, each 3.75 meters wide, with a cement concrete surface. The design speed will be 150 kilometers per hour.
A project to build a 171-kilometer alternative highway between Tashkent, Angren, and the Kamchyk Pass will also be implemented. The project plans to construct 33 kilometers of tunnels and a number of major engineering structures.
The head of state was briefed on funding sources being explored and the progress of negotiations to attract foreign investors.
It was emphasized that when designing highways, special attention should be paid to the use of modern transport engineering solutions, the implementation of intelligent control and monitoring systems, and road safety.
The presentation also included information on the progress of the Tashkent-Charvak and Urgench-Khiva road construction projects.
The key parameters of the new Tashkent International Airport construction project were also reviewed. The first phase includes the construction of a 208,400 square meter passenger terminal and two 4-kilometer runways. The infrastructure will be capable of handling 20 million passengers annually, ensuring 30 takeoffs and landings per hour, and providing parking for 169 aircraft.
A report was given on the design and survey work being carried out on the future airport site, as well as the next stages of the project’s implementation.
The President of our country instructed those responsible to ensure thorough technical and economic development of the projects, organize construction work in accordance with modern standards, and ensure the long-term stable operation of the transport infrastructure.
