On November 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on additional measures for the socio-economic development of the Khorezm region, the press service of the head of our state reports.
In recent years, entrepreneurship, agro-industry and the service sector have been developing dynamically in Khorezm. The visit of the head of our state at the beginning of the year and the tasks outlined during it gave this an additional impetus.
Next year, it is planned to attract $1.5 billion in investment to the region. This will become the basis for the creation of many enterprises, jobs and growth in prosperity.
For example, if 175 hectares of land in the Kushkupyr district are added to the industrial zone, then projects worth $1 billion can be implemented. 2 thousand jobs will be created there in the electrical, chemical, mechanical engineering and pharmaceutical sectors.
Reducing the protection zone of the Shavat canal from 50 to 25 meters will allow for projects worth $30 million. Services worth 1 trillion soums will be provided here and 2.5 thousand new jobs will be created. There is also an opportunity to implement projects worth 50 million dollars around the Gazavat and Polvon canals.
There are also unrealized opportunities in agriculture and water management. There are enough conditions for expanding poultry farming in the Kushkupyr district, fish farming in the Bagat district. Improving the water supply in Yangiarik will provide 1.2 thousand people with jobs in growing melons, rice and breeding fish.
There are also proposals in the social sphere. In particular, there is a high need for quality education. Therefore, it is planned to repair 44 schools and kindergartens, build new educational institutions on the basis of public-private partnership. It is also planned to create multidisciplinary medical centers in the Urgench, Bagat, Shavat and Yangibazar districts.
The head of state instructed to summarize these proposals and prepare a draft resolution. It is important to turn opportunities into results, provide people with jobs and increase their incomes, the President noted.
