On November 20, under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the progress of projects implemented with the participation of international financial institutions in the field of drinking water supply, agriculture and healthcare was reviewed, the press service of the head of our state reports.
In recent years, both the number and scale of projects implemented with the support of international financial institutions have been expanding. In particular, over the past seven years, $16 billion has been disbursed and 103 new projects have been launched.
As a result, 9 thousand social facilities and infrastructure were built and repaired, which improved the daily lives of about 5 million people. 38 new large industrial facilities were launched and 6.5 thousand high-paying jobs were created.
At the same time, thanks to foreign investment, new technologies and modern approaches are coming to economic sectors.
However, not all industries achieve high performance. For example, this year the Ministry of Agriculture is expected to absorb $238 million in funds from international financial institutions. This is much less than planned.
In general, in recent years, $2.4 billion has been attracted to the sector, of which $1.3 billion has been disbursed. There are projects that are behind schedule. For example, the project to create agrologistic centers in Andijan, Samarkand and Tashkent regions is delayed.
The Ministry of Health has planned 11 projects worth $877 million. Most of them are being implemented. However, the development of investments in projects to equip nephrological and urological institutions, the construction of a multidisciplinary medical center for adults in the Yashnabad district of our capital, and the creation of a national reference laboratory has not begun.
The Uzsuvtaminot system is implementing 22 projects worth $2.1 billion. There is a possibility that 8 projects will not be launched on time.
The meeting indicated that in most cases this is due to the activities of project groups.
The head of our state gave instructions to increase the responsibility of ministers for the implementation of projects, to conduct constant discussions of each project with the participation of international experts, and to ensure the effective use of funds.
Responsible persons reported on the measures taken to speed up work, eliminate delays, and ensure high-quality implementation of projects by the end of this year and in 2024.
