Session of Kommersant Publishing House within the framework of Innoprom. “Production registration” in Central Asia: cooperation, warehouses and logistics

The growth of trade turnover between the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan in 2023 compared to 2022 amounted to 11.5%, Kommenrsant Publishing House reports. But, in addition to trade relations, the track of industrial cooperation between countries is also actively developing. Russian industrial sites will be localized in the Central Asian republic from the spring of 2023. The pioneers in obtaining “industrial registration” in Uzbekistan were production workers from Tatarstan, who opened several production sites in the Tashkent and Jizzakh regions of Uzbekistan.

The Russian government has formed a set of measures to stimulate investment projects of Russian companies abroad, including a range of measures of financial, informational and organizational assistance to Russian companies. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, this year it is planned to launch a new mechanism to support organizations implementing infrastructure projects in the territory of supporting friendly countries. It will also extend to the creation of transport and logistics centers, industrial clusters and port infrastructure.

The movement to the south is favored by the country’s friendly jurisdiction and growing domestic consumption, which determines the high attractiveness of logistics and warehouse complexes. Uzbekistan is traditionally located at the intersection of trade routes to Central Asia and the Middle East.

Logistics, and above all, railway logistics, plays a critical role in the development of industrial cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan. The creation of modern infrastructure within the republic also contributes to the expansion of trade flows with neighboring states that are forming their own trade and production chains with Uzbekistan. Recently, several new corridors have been created in Uzbekistan, including connecting Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan with Iran in transit through Afghanistan, as well as Uzbekistan in transit through these countries with Pakistan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
