On October 22 this year, on the sidelines of the Uzbek-Kazakh Interregional Forum held in Samarkand, a meeting of entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was held, the press service of the MIIT reports. The delegations were represented by the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov and the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliev, heads of ministries, departments, regional administrations, as well as heads of more than 200 large companies of the two countries.
In his welcoming speech, Laziz Kudratov emphasized the traditionally good-neighborly relations, mutual understanding and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, which has a positive impact on bilateral trade and economic ties.
Over the past seven years, trade turnover has grown from $2 billion to $4.4 billion in 2023. Over the first 9 months of this year, this figure amounted to $3 billion. There are about 1,100 enterprises with Kazakhstani capital in Uzbekistan in the processing and production of food and textile products, construction materials and other areas.
The importance of developing partnerships between the two countries at the interregional level was noted. Agriculture and the agro-industrial sector, the production of textiles and consumer goods, and the exchange of experience and technology were identified as promising areas. Great opportunities are opening up for entrepreneurs in connection with the establishment of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation “Central Asia” in the Syrdarya region.
The readiness of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade to provide comprehensive assistance at all stages of project implementation was expressed.
In turn, the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev highly appreciated the mutual development of interregional cooperation, in particular, the results of mutual visits of entrepreneurs to partner regions of the two countries carried out on the eve of the Forum, and called on entrepreneurs to actively work together.
At the end of the meeting, B2B negotiations and a signing ceremony of 33 agreements on establishing cooperation between the regions of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan took place, which will improve direct interaction, implement joint projects and increase mutual supplies of finished products.
