Intergovernmental consultations were held on financial and technical cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic of Germany

The delegations of Uzbekistan and Germany, headed respectively by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, held intergovernmental consultations on financial and technical cooperation on August 5 this year.

The event was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the German Ambassador to Uzbekistan, representatives of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, as well as German financial institutions.

During the consultations, ongoing and promising projects totaling 350 million euros were discussed, including in the main areas of cooperation: “Health, social protection and demographic policy” (170 million euros), “Sustainable economic development, training and employment” (148 million euros), “Climate and Energy, Simply Transition” (26 million euros), “Peaceful and Inclusive Societies” (6 million euros).

The parties noted with satisfaction that bilateral negotiations on expanding the volume of financial and technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany are held on an annual basis, although in accordance with the policy of the German government, such negotiations with other countries are held every two years.

The attention of the German side to expanding the volume of bilateral financial and technical cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan is due to the desire to support a large-scale reform program carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the preparation of a promising list of projects, taking into account priority areas for Uzbekistan, which will be considered during negotiations between the governments of the two countries scheduled for the end of the year.
