On July 26 of the current year, Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, participated in a meeting of the Uzbek-Japanese Business Club held at the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the PR center of the Ministry reports.
The meeting was also attended by the leaders of major Japanese companies, including ‘‘Mitsubishi Corporation’’, ‘‘Sumitomo Corporation’’, ‘‘Summit Motors’’, ‘‘YKK’’, ‘‘Toyota Tsusho Corporation’’, ‘‘Internet Initiative Japan Inc.’’, ‘‘Mitsui & Co.’’, ‘‘Yokogawa Electric’’, ‘‘HHH Central Asia’’, ‘‘Kubota’’, ‘‘Masui’’, as well as organizations such as ‘‘JETRO’’, ‘‘JICA’’, and the Uzbek-Japanese Center.
In his welcoming speech, Laziz Kudratov emphasized the dynamics of Uzbek-Japanese cooperation.
The volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Japan has tripled since the beginning of this year, investments in our country’s economy have increased 40 times, and the number of joint ventures has increased 8 times. Over the past seven years, projects worth $2.4 billion have been implemented with the participation of Japanese companies in the energy, tourism, chemical, and furniture industries. Within the framework of financial and technical partnership, a number of projects worth over $7 billion have been implemented in the fields of healthcare, energy, digitization, education, and others.
Following the meeting, a list of mutually beneficial project initiatives was approved by both parties, preliminary agreements and contracts were formed, and implementers were identified from both sides. Each initiative will receive comprehensive support during the construction phase as well as during subsequent operation.
