On May 7, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The parties discussed topical issues of dynamically developing Uzbek-Qatari relations, the implementation of joint programs, prospects for intensifying political dialogue, trade and investment ties, cultural, humanitarian and tourist exchanges. An exchange of views took place on the international and regional agenda, including the current situation in Afghanistan.
On the same day, a solemn opening ceremony of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Tashkent took place with the participation of representatives of the Governments of the two countries, the diplomatic corps, the public and the media.
Speaking at the event, the Uzbek Foreign Minister noted that the Uzbek side considers Qatar as an important, reliable and promising partner in the Arab world. The conviction was expressed that the opening of the diplomatic mission of Qatar in Tashkent will open a new page in the history of bilateral relations, contributing to their enrichment with practical content.
