Uzbekistan and Albania have taken their relations to a new level of cooperation

Talks between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Albania Bayram Begaj, with the participation of official delegations, took place at the Kuksaroy residence, the press service of the head of our state reports.

Prospects for further strengthening practical cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

At the outset of the talks, the head of state emphasized that this first summit in the period of cooperation will be historic and will take Uzbek-Albanian relations to a qualitatively new level.

The intensification of political dialogue and contacts at various levels was noted with satisfaction. Mutual support is provided within the UN and other international organizations.

Priority is being given to increasing trade turnover and developing a full-scale cooperation program in key sectors such as agriculture, green energy, geology, information technology and digitalization, tourism, and many others.

The possibilities of using the Albanian port of Durres as a logistics hub for Uzbek products to reach markets in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean will be explored.

The importance of expanding the legal framework for trade, economic, and investment cooperation was emphasized.

To advance the economic agenda of cooperation, an agreement was reached to establish an Intergovernmental Commission and hold its first meeting this year in Tashkent.

In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the parties supported organizing reciprocal Days of Culture, Cinema, Exhibitions, and Tours.

The leaders also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.
