Uzbekistan Joins the “Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific”

On November 5, the Republic of Uzbekistan formally joined the “Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific”, the press service of the MIIT reports.
Uzbekistan Joins the “Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific”

According to Article 19 of the Agreement, it will take effect for Uzbekistan on February 3, 2025.

In connection with the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the “Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in the Asia-Pacific Region”, the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-316 dated September 7, 2024 “On Accession to the International Treaty” was adopted.

Background: The Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific is a multilateral agreement adopted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) on May 19, 2016. The Agreement’s purpose is to promote paperless cross-border trade by creating conditions for the mutual recognition and electronic exchange of trade documents and data, as well as to enhance interoperability among national and subregional systems.

This document has been in force since February 20, 2021, with 14 countries officially acceding to date.

By joining this Agreement, Uzbekistan aims to further integrate into the global system of paperless trade, accelerating and streamlining export-import transactions with partner countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade has been appointed as the authority responsible for implementing this international treaty.
