Uzbekistan-Turkiye: cooperation to achieve new goals

Currently, a delegation of representatives of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan is on a working visit to the Republic of Turkey. The “Uzcharmsanoat” Association also participates in the delegation of our country and conducts effective dialogue and negotiations with Turkish companies and investors, the press service of the Association reports.

On the first day of the visit, a meeting was held at the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey TOBB among business circles, as well as representatives of ministries and departments of Uzbekistan and Turkey. At the event, presentations were made on reforms, created opportunities and conditions for foreign investors, benefits and preferences, and the investment attractiveness of Uzbekistan and its industrial sectors. B2B meetings were also held with large organizations and companies operating in various industries, including leather and footwear.

During the visit, the chairman of the “Uzcharmsanoat” association, Fahriddin Boboev, met with the leadership of the Turkish Footwear Industry Research and Training Foundation (TAŞEV). Negotiations were held to expand cooperation in the field of education in the leather, footwear and fur industries. An exchange of views took place on the issue of training and retraining of qualified designers, marketers, technologists, and engineers for the leather and footwear industry of our country. Negotiations were held on the development of joint educational programs based on student exchange, holding training seminars with the participation of Turkish specialists for enterprise employees. As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to sign, within the framework of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a “Memorandum of Understanding” between the TAŞEV Foundation and the “Uzcharmsanoat” Association. The document involves establishing a personnel training system for the Uzbek leather industry, in particular, short-term courses will be opened at the TAŞEV Academy in in-demand specialties, recruitment for which will be carried out on the basis of applications from industry enterprises, and retraining of specialists will also be organized by attracting Turkish teachers to Uzbekistan.

In order to timely and effectively complete the tasks assigned to the country’s industrial sectors, during an extended meeting held on December 18 under the chairmanship of the Head of State, the Chairman of the Association, Fakhriddin Boboev, held negotiations with the Turkish brand YDS GROUP. The purpose of the meeting with the head of the company, Vedat Yakup, was to establish cooperation with a Turkish brand for the production of products on outsourcing and franchising terms. The head of the Association also got acquainted with the production processes at the enterprise itself.

For reference: YDS GROUP is a Turkish company that produces world-class products in the military and security fields, such as technical shoes, special clothing, ballistic glasses, saddles and tents. YDS is a leader in its sector, producing 6 million pairs of custom shoes per year.

At the meeting, issues of attracting products of this brand to Uzbekistan were discussed, as well as organizing the production of the company’s products in our country based on established procedures and requirements.

In order to expand trade, economic and investment cooperation in the leather, footwear and fur industries, negotiations were also held with the head of the Gerede leather industry association, Ersin Kashka.

During the meeting, they discussed the establishment of bilateral investment cooperation, the widespread attraction of Turkish investors to our country, and the implementation of joint projects.
