Uzbek citizens to enter TIN instead of PINI for payments

Uzbek citizens will enter PINI instead of TIN in their payment documents. The practice of issuing a TIN to citizens has been cancelled since July 2021.

From April 9, payment documents of individuals must indicate PINI (personal identification number of an individual), instead of TIN (taxpayer identification number). This was reported in the press service of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“Appropriate changes were made to the regulatory legal acts regarding the requirements for processing payment documents provided by customers to banks. These changes are planned to be introduced in stages until April 9 of this year, and then in full,” the Central Bank said.

Thus, after the introduction of these changes into practice, in all payment documents, instead of the TIN of the payer – an individual, in the details of the payment document, referred to as the “payer identification number”, their PINFL must be indicated without fail.
