Modern equipment for small hydropower plants to be produced in Andijan

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a project for the production of equipment for small hydropower plants being implemented in Andijan district, the press service of the head of our state reports.

A key foundation for the project was the Presidential Resolution of March 28, 2025, aimed at developing a network of micro-hydropower plants across the regions. As part of its implementation, the “Andijon Jinlong Yangi Energiya” enterprise is being established.

Such equipment is particularly in demand in Central Asian countries, which have extensive mountainous areas and significant water resources. However, the region has so far lacked specialized facilities capable of manufacturing this type of equipment on an industrial scale. The new project is designed to meet this growing demand.

Andijan region’s abundant water resources offer significant potential for the development of green energy. In particular, the steady flow of the Great Fergana Canal provides favorable conditions for the construction of micro- and small hydropower plants.

The project, financed entirely through foreign investment, has a total value of $20 million. The enterprise is expected to reach full production capacity in 2027. Once operational at full capacity, it will produce 100 small hydropower plant units annually, with a total value of 70 billion soums, as well as equipment for micro-hydropower generation, machinery, and electrical products.

As global demand for clean and renewable energy continues to grow, small and micro hydropower plants are becoming increasingly important as an effective source of clean electricity. Their key advantages include minimal environmental impact, relatively short construction periods, and stable power generation.

The project will create 200 new jobs. The enterprise plans to export its products to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, with annual export volumes expected to reach $3 million.

The enterprise also plans to construct a number of micro-hydropower plants in Andijan region. This will help provide households and industrial enterprises with affordable, clean, and reliable electricity.
