The 6th meeting of the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan Business Council was held in Astana

On August 7 of this year, on the eve of the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kazakhstan, the 6th meeting of the Uzbek-Kazakh Entrepreneurs Council on the topic ‘‘Small and Medium Business: the Driving Force of Economic Growth’’ was held in Astana, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reports.

As of May 1 of this year, in Uzbekistan, 323 joint ventures and 1,103 enterprises with the participation of Kazakhstani capital operate in the areas of trade, transport and logistics, production of building materials and consumer goods, 790 of which are enterprises with 100% Kazakhstani capital.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan D. Rasulov, Chairman of the Board of the Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce M. Karimsakov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan B. Atamkulov, heads of relevant departments of the two countries and more than 70 representatives of business circles.

The heads of delegations noted the strategic nature of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries and emphasized that active cooperation between business circles plays an important role in this regard.

The meeting discussed the results of last year’s activities of the Uzbek-Kazakh Council of Entrepreneurs, as well as upcoming tasks, foreign trade and promising areas of intersectoral cooperation between enterprises and organizations of the two countries, including industry, logistics, women’s entrepreneurship, and discussed issues related to agriculture and the food sector.

A memorandum of cooperation was also signed between the Tashkent International Arbitration Center and the ‘‘Atameken’’ Arbitration Center of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This document serves to strengthen the legal framework for resolving disputes between businessmen of the two countries.

Following the meeting, a document was signed providing for the opening of the Trade House and Business Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the creation of the Kazakhstan-Uzbek Business Association in Tashkent.
