The Embassy of Uzbekistan in London, together with the “Uzeltehsanoat” Association, organized a “round table” on the topic “Trade and investment opportunities in the electrical industry of Uzbekistan for British business”, the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.
The event was attended by representatives of British companies, specialized associations and the media.
The participants were informed about the ongoing reforms in our country, the priorities of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026, as well as the initiatives put forward during the open dialogue of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with entrepreneurs, held on August 18.
Representatives of the Association “Uzeltehsanoat” also held a detailed online presentation of the electrotechnical sphere, which is considered one of the most dynamically developing branches of the economy and has more than 400 enterprises that produce about 2 thousand products.
Investment projects were presented to create joint high-tech capacities for the production of cable products, household appliances, power equipment and other electrical products. An exchange of views took place on the prospects of cooperation with British companies using new opportunities for the production and export of copper products within the framework of the Ohangaron Tech Industrial technopark and the free economic zone in the Syrdarya region intended for the electrical industry.
The participants showed interest in the opportunities created in Uzbekistan in the field of renewable energy sources, primarily solar and wind. The potential of exporting electrical products to the British market was also noted in the context of the special system of preferences “Developing Countries Trading Scheme” (DCTS), according to which goods of Uzbek origin receive additional benefits due to the complete or partial abolition of a number of tariffs.
