Prospects for trade and economic cooperation with Spain were discussed in Madrid

As the part of activities aimed at further developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Spain in the trade and economic sphere, a meeting was held between representatives of the Embassy of our country and the head of the International Department of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jaime Montalvo, the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.

During the talks, the issue of creating a Business Council with the participation of leading companies of the two countries to develop joint projects, which will be carried out at the expense of concessional credit funds from the Spanish government, established by the Agreement on Mechanisms for Economic and Financial Cooperation dated March 1 this year, was considered.

Jaime Montalvo noted that representatives of leading Spanish companies expressed great interest in the implementation of joint projects in Uzbekistan.

He also stressed that the allocation of concessional loans to Uzbekistan by Spanish companies will provide ample opportunities for the implementation of many joint projects in our country.

The Spanish side reported that the business community of the Kingdom of Spain has formed business councils (BCs) with more than 25 countries around the world. At the moment, 7 of the most actively working councils have been preserved from them.

Taking into account the fact that the trade and investment potential of Uzbekistan is assessed by the Spanish business community as very attractive, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that it seems possible to consider establishing an interstate business council.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize a meeting on this issue with the participation of representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries in the fourth quarter of this year.
