A meeting of the Uzbekistan–Türkiye interparliamentary cooperation groups was held in the Senate

On August 13 this year, the regular meeting of the Uzbekistan–Türkiye and Türkiye–Uzbekistan interparliamentary cooperation groups was held, the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.

The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

It was particularly noted that, thanks to relations between the leaders of the two countries based on political will and mutual trust, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye has reached the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.

The consistent intensification of interparliamentary dialogue and mutual visits in recent years was emphasized. The meeting also addressed measures to ensure the implementation of the 2026–2027 cooperation “road map” signed in April this year between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye.

In particular, the participants exchanged views on organizing joint events and visits, sharing experience in lawmaking and parliamentary oversight, and supporting mutual initiatives within international parliamentary organizations.

The importance of developing trade, economic and investment cooperation, providing legislative support for industrial cooperation projects, as well as cooperation in transport and transit, education, tourism, and cultural and humanitarian areas was emphasized. The importance of promoting the expansion of interregional ties was also highlighted.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to ensure parliamentary oversight of the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, organize a visit by the leadership of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye to Uzbekistan, and ensure the participation of young Turkish parliamentarians in the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which will be held in Samarkand.
