An international seminar titled “Ensuring Coherence in International Investment Governance: Practical Approaches for Uzbekistan” was held in Tashkent, organized by the Asian Development Bank in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, with expert support from IISD, the press service of the MIIT reports. The event brought together representatives of key government agencies involved in shaping the country’s investment policy.

The seminar marked an important milestone toward the development of the National Investment Code, designed to establish a modern, transparent, and coherent regulatory framework. Participants discussed international investment agreements, national legislation, and investment contracts, with a particular focus on institutional coherence and finding the right balance between investor protection and the interests of the state.

The practical sessions addressed mechanisms for investor servicing, investment guarantees, dispute resolution, cooperation within PPP frameworks, as well as the alignment of investment policy with land, environmental, labor, and social regulations.

Based on the outcomes of the seminar, key directions were identified for the further development of the National Investment Code and for strengthening interagency coordination. These efforts will enhance Uzbekistan’s investment attractiveness and create a more predictable environment for business.
