The first inter-parliamentary forum “Uzbekistan – Canada” will be held in Uzbekistan

On January 26, 2025, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sodik Safoyev held a videoconference with Ziyad Abultaif, Chairman of the Canada-Uzbekistan Friendship Group in the House of Commons of Canada, the Senate press service reports.

During the talks, the parties noted their strong mutual interest in consistently developing and strengthening interparliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Canada.

They highly commended the visit of the Oliy Majlis delegation to Canada on November 26-27, 2025, and the successful celebration of Uzbekistan Day in the Canadian Parliament.

The issue of holding the first Uzbekistan-Canada Interparliamentary Forum in Samarkand in 2026 was discussed. During the Canadian delegation’s visit to our country, issues of trade and investment cooperation were also discussed, including in the areas of important minerals, agriculture, clean energy, education, and innovation.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation in order to develop interparliamentary dialogue between Uzbekistan and Canada.
