On February 16 this year, as part of the visit of the government delegation of Uzbekistan to Egypt, the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held talks in Cairo with the leadership of leading Egyptian companies operating in the production of electrical, textile, leather and footwear, pharmaceutical products and building materials, the press service of MIIT reports. The main topic of the agenda is the prospects for the implementation of joint projects and attraction of investments in the priority sectors of the economy of our country.
In particular, issues of cooperation in the energy and electrical industries were discussed with the President of Elsewedy Electric, Ahmed Sadeq (the company is Egypt’s largest producer of electricity, transformers and cable products with production facilities in 17 countries. Assets – $ 6 billion). Agreements were reached on the creation of a Working Group for the practical development of joint projects for the construction of wind and solar power plants, the establishment of the production of transformers, cable and wire products and accessories.
At a meeting with the management of the Fresh company, issues of implementing projects in the field of the electrical industry were discussed (the company produces more than 1.5 thousand types of electrical products, including household appliances. Export geography includes 52 countries of the world. Sales volume is $ 1 billion). Measures were agreed on the joint preparation of projects to establish the production of electrical products in the Tashkent region, as well as the organization of a joint production of copper and components.
At a meeting with the Executive Director of Orascom Construction, Ihab Mahaved, the prospects for the implementation of joint projects in the field of energy, road infrastructure development and building materials (he has 70 years of experience in the production of traditional and renewable electricity, building materials, recycling and water management) were considered. An agreement was reached on the establishment of a joint Working Group for a detailed study of projects.
On the same day, meetings were held with the management of Al Rowad and ARC Shoes (the companies are major manufacturers and exporters of shoes to Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa), as well as Lotus Garment Group (produces clothes for international brands Levi’s, Lee, Gap , Wrangler, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and others) and Pharco Pharmaceutical (the company produces more than 450 types of drugs, exports products to 50 countries). Organizational issues were agreed upon to start the practical development of projects for the creation of joint ventures and the production of high-quality leather, textile and pharmaceutical products.
The unifying feature of the talks was the constructive nature and readiness of the parties to take concrete measures to increase cooperation and accelerate the implementation of the agreements reached.
