The Navoi Thermal Power Plant has signed a contract for the creation of a third energy unit, Spot reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
As the part of the project, it is planned to build and launch a combined cycle gas plant with a capacity of 650 megawatts. The construction of the power unit is included in the investment program of Uzbekistan until 2025, approved last December.
The project will be implemented by the Japanese company Mitsubishi Power Ltd. The power unit is planned to be built and put into operation from 2023 to 2026.
After launch, the power unit will generate and send 4.8 billion kWh of electricity to the general power grid. Thanks to the use of modern energy-efficient equipment, up to 1 billion cubic meters of gas will be saved compared to old units.
In July, construction of new power units with a capacity of 1 GW began at the Talimarjan Thermal Power Plant. The Japanese Mitsubishi together with the Spanish Intecsa are also working on the project costing over $770 million.
